Summary of MAEF 2019
On May 15-16, 2019, the 1st international Moscow Academic Economic Forum (MAEF) was held by the Free Economic Society of Russia, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the International Union of Economists.
Plenary sessions were held in the Great Hall of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the opening day of the Forum. On May 16, the closing plenary session of the MAEF was held at the RAS. On May 16, the MAEF's plenary sessions were held at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, RANEPA, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and Moscow Aviation Institute. As part of the MAEF, research to practice conferences and sessions were held at 28 regional venues across Russia.

More than 2.5 thousand people from 62 regions of Russia took part in MAEF 2019, including representatives from 25 countries of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, North and South America.

The Forum brought together leading scientists and experts from Russia and abroad, recent graduates, representatives of Russia's federal legislative and executive government bodies, regional governments, academic community, business circles, international and Russian NGOs.
Addresses to the participants and organizers of MAEF 2019
The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the Forum. The participants were also greeted by Chair of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Secretary of the Public Chamber Valery Fadeyev, Chair of the Russian Historical Society Sergey Naryshkin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin, Chair of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia Mikhail Shmakov, Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Viktor Sadovnichy, heads of regional governments of the Russian Federation, plenipotentiaries of the President of Russia, heads of federal ministries, scientific and academic institutions and NGOs.

MAEF 2019 Program
Events of the 1st day of MAEF 2019
On May 15, the plenary session of MAEF 2019 was held at the Russian Academy of Sciences. Moderators were S.D. Bodrunov, President of the VEO of Russia, President of the International Union of Economists (IUE), Director of the Witte Institute of New Industrial Development, Doctor of Economics, Professor, and V.V. Ivanter, Full Member of the Senate of the VEO of Russia, Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Forecasting at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Academic Secretary, Head of the Economics Section of the Department of Social Sciences at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. MAEF participants were greeted by Alexander Sergeyev, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor.

A closing speech was made by Abel Aganbegyan, Head of the Economic Theory and Policy Department of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor.

AGREEMENTS
As part of the 1st international Moscow Academic Economic Forum, cooperation agreements were signed between the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Free Economic Society of Russia, and the International Union of Economists. The agreements were signed by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences and MAEF Co-Chair Alexander Sergeyev and the President of the Free Economic Society of Russia and the International Union of Economists and MAEF Co-Chair Sergey Bodrunov. A cooperation agreement was also signed between the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. The agreement was signed by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeyev and the President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin.
EVENTS OF THE 2ND DAY OF MAEF 2019
On May 16, plenary sessions of the MAEF were held devoted to the following:

- Session 1: The new quality of the economy (venue: Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation).

- Session 2: Global change in the world economy: what is in store for Russia? (venue: Plekhanov Russian University of Economics).

- Session 3: Socio-economic development of Russia in the long term: the role of government strategies and programs (venue: RANEPA).

- Session 4: Economics as an object of interdisciplinary research. Fourth International Political Economy Congress (venue: Lomonosov Moscow State University). MAEF Youth Section: The economy of Russia: What can the next generation offer? (venue: MAI).

As part of the MAEF, research to practice conferences and sessions were held on May 16 at 28 regional venues across Russia: in Altai Territory, Arkhangelsk Region, Vladimir Region, Volgograd Region, Vologda Region, Ivanovo Region, Irkutsk Region, Kostroma Region, Krasnodar Region, Kursk Region, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow Region, Murmansk Region, Novgorod Region, Oryol Region, Penza Region , Republic of Kalmykia, Komi Republic, Tuva Republic, Rostov Region, Ryazan Region, Saratov Region, Sverdlovsk Region, Stavropol Territory, Tambov Region, Tver Region, Udmurt Republic.
CLOSING PLENARY SESSION OF THE MAEF
At the final plenary session of the MAEF on May 16 in the Great Hall of the Russian Academy of Sciences, moderators of plenary sessions at the MAEF spoke:

YOUTH SECTION OF MAEF 2019
Further to the MAEF, a ceremony was held to award recent graduates for the best presentations at the MAEF Youth Section and the winners of the Russia's Economic Growth National Youth Research Competition. Co-Chair of the MAEF, President of the VEO of Russia Sergey Bodrunov, Vice President of the VEO of Russia, Director of Research at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Sorokin, and Vice President of the VEO of Russia, Director of Research at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences Ruslan Grinberg awarded diplomas and prizes to the winners.
LECTURE BY THE NOBEL LAUREATE JEAN TIROLE
Professor Jean Tirole, Nobel Laureate in Economics, delivered a lecture on the challenges that economic development processes pose for the business, government, and society.
MAEF FINAL DOCUMENT
Further to the Moscow Academic Economic Forum and pursuant to the decision of the MAEF, the working group, program and coordination committees prepared the final document of the Forum, which was signed by the MAEF's Co-Chairs — Sergey Bodrunov, President of the VEO of Russia, and Alexander Sergeyev, President of the RAS.

MAEF 2019: INTERACTIVE SURVEY RESULTS
According to an interactive survey conducted as part of the IAEF-2019, the majority of the Forum participants (65%) believe that Russia has everything it needs to compete with the global technology leaders. Moreover, 64% expressed confidence that Russian science will play a key role in this. Russian scientists are able to offer adequate answers to the challenges of the technological revolution facing the country — the majority of participants at MAEF 2019 have no doubt about this.

35% of respondents referred to technological progress as the most important principle of a strategic model for the development of the Russian economy. 31% of the survey respondents believe that planning could be a significant driver of socio-economic development.

22% believe that stronger competition will play an important role in the development of a strategic model for the Russian economy. 51% of the respondents agreed that the youth should be involved in science through creating a positive image and strengthening the prestige of the profession of a scientist, and, of course, funding of science and research should be improved.
