May 31, 2020 was the final day of the 2nd international Moscow Academic Economic Forum (MAEF), held by the Free Economic Society of Russia (VEO), the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), and the International Union of Economists (IUE).
The topic of the MAEF-2020 "Post-Pandemic World and Russia: a New Reality" was dictated by the current socio-economic agenda faced by both Russia and the global community. In the 21st century, the Russian and world economies have not yet had to face a crisis as broad as the current one.
The MAEF-2020 was held from May 14 to May 31, 2020. About 2,000 participants from 62 regions of Russia and 10 countries around the world — the US, UK, Canada, Austria, Germany, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Belarus, and Estonia — took part in the Forum. Among the MAEF participants were Russian and global scientists and experts, representatives of the business community, international and Russian NGOs, government agencies.
The MAEF-2020 comprised an online plenary session held on May 14, 2020, online conferences, seminars, and an online session, which took place between May 15 and May 31, 2020.
The plenary online session was held on May 14, 2020 at the international multimedia press center of the news agency Russia Today.
It was joined by 770 participants from 51 regions of the Russian Federation. The event was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the VEO of Russia, on the Nauchnaya Rossiya website, on the websites of the VEO of Russia, IUE, and MAEF. It gathered as many as 3,000 total views.
The MAEF-2020 was opened by its co-chairs — President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev and President of the VEO of Russia, President of the IUE Sergey Bodrunov.
The online session was moderated by MAEF Co-Chair Sergey Bodrunov.

The participants of the plenary session fully endorsed the anti-crisis measures to support residents and business, undertaken by the Russian Government, and made proposals on strategic steps to ensure the establishment of a qualitatively new economy quality, its recovery from the present crisis, and achievement of sustainable growth.
In addition, the MAEF hosted an international scientific conference titled "Technological and socio-economic transformations of the 21st century: a conceptual comprehension experience" (May 28), a seminar titled "Global crisis 2020: future challenges (a political and economic discourse)" (May 21), a conference titled "Development of the agro-industrial complex in a post-pandemic economy" (May 21), the 2nd Russian National Research and Practice Conference "Russian Economy: Institutions of Adaptation and Development in the Context of Global Instability" (May 15-16), a research and practice seminar titled "Socio-economic crisis 2020: its nature and consequences" (May 23), a conference titled "Regional economy in the post-pandemic period" (May 28), a research and practice conference titled "Development drivers of an industrial region in the post-pandemic reality" (May 29).
