Insights from the Moscow Academic Economic Forum, which took place on May 15 and 16, 2019, are published in Vol. 218 of the Proceedings of the VEO of Russia, a joint publication of the Free Economic Society of Russia, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the International Union of Economists.
The new volume features articles by scientists, industry experts, representatives of the business community and government who participated in the MAEF. Two plenary sessions held as part of the Forum were focused on the following topics — An economy adequate for the contemporary challenges: An academic discourse, and Drivers of economic, social, and technological change: The future of Russia.
In particular, the RAS Academician Viktor Ivanter demonstrates in the new volume of the Proceedings the possibility of kick-starting economic growth without an initial increase in investment, the FAS Director Igor Artemyev outlines the problems associated with the competitive environment in Russia and offers solutions, and the RUIE President Alexander Shokhin lists legislative changes necessary for the business community in order to feel confident and pursue long-term development strategies.
The volume also covers the research and practice conferences held at the MAEF regional venues.
The publication will be presented to the participants of the Russian National Economics Meeting dedicated to the International Economist Day, to be held on November 11, 2019 in the Pillar Hall of the Unions.
